Directions for Maokong Gondola Transport Service
General
- To provide passengers with a safe, reliable, convenient and comfortable
service, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TRTC)
has, in accordance with the Rules Governing Transport of Passengers on
Gondola Systems in Taipei City, formulated these stipulations and
promulgated them in all Gondola stations. Any alterations or changes made
will also be made public.
- Personnel, unless authorized by TRTC, are not allowed to climb the
Gondola's pylons, cables, or areas not for public access.
- Passengers must use the tickets issued or authorized by TRTC to pass
through ticket gates.
- Passengers shall follow the regulations or instructions when using
Gondola facilities and must not destroy, interfere or remove them.
- Unless otherwise authorized by TRTC, passengers are not allowed to
remain in Gondola's depots, stations or cabins during non-service periods.
- TRTC may refuse to transport passengers in any of the following
situations, and TRTC personnel may demand offenders leave stations. Those
whose behavior endangers public safety shall be referred to the police.
(1) Violating laws, public order, good social practices, or these
regulations;
(2) Acting in a manner that obviously appears to be harmful to others or
themselves or harass others;
(3) Wearing smelly clothes or bringing filthy objects that affect public
hygiene;
(4) Seniors, children or badly ill passengers who need escorts but are
unaccompanied;
(5) Carrying objects that cause inconvenience to others;
(6) Unauthorized speeches to the public, the playing of musical instruments,
or other activities that may disturb other passengers;
(7) Unauthorized pasting, painting, or carving of characters, drawings, or
the like on facilities or buildings;
(8) Wearing in-line skates or roller skates;
(9) Riding on skateboards or foldable push scooters;
(10) Standing or jumping in the cabin. Rocking the cabin. Entering the
cabins without permission;
(11) Obstruct opening and closing of cabin doors. Lean on the cabin doors;
(12) Smoke, eat, drink, chew gum or betel nuts in the gondola system (water
excepted);
(13) Throwing objects in the Gondola system or from the cabin windows;
(14) Loitering in the paid area after arriving at the terminal station;
(15) Other behaviors prohibited by TRTC.
Regulations About Ticket Usage

| 7. |
Except for group tickets, a ticket is valid for one person only. Valid
periods are as follows,
(1) A single-journey ticket, single-journey concession ticket,
single-journey substitute ticket, group ticket are valid on the date of
issue;
(2) An EASYCARD remains valid within 2 years from its last value-adding
date. |

A passenger must pay a fare to enter a paid area. A
minimum single-journey fare will be charged even if passengers enter and
leave the same station. There is a limit to the duration of stays in a
pay area:
(1) No longer than one hour for entering and leaving different stations;
(2) No longer than 15 minutes for entering and leaving the same station. |

Passengers should refer to the fare charts published by
TRTC in stations for fares payable.
Elderly passengers over 65 years of age, disabled passengers with valid
proof and one escort for such disabled passengers may purchase
concession tickets.
If accompanied by adults with tickets, children less than 6 years of age
may travel for free after presenting valid identification, such as a
National Health Insurance IC Card. Each adult may only be accompanied by
2 children. |

A passenger who is caught on board without a ticket,
with an invalid ticket or improper ID (in the case of discount ticket
holders) must make up the fare.
If a passenger cannot prove where his starting station is, the highest
for the route will be charged. |
| 11. |
A passenger using a counterfeit ticket will be handled
as above, and will be referred to the police. |
| 12. |
A passenger losing the ticket during his journey without
settling the fare voluntarily will be fined pursuant to Stipulation 10. |
| 13. |
Unless due to a cause attributable to TRTC, a passenger
who over-rides must pay the fare difference at the Information Counter
in the station. |
| 14. |
Unless due to a cause not attributable to passengers,
those who have not complied with Stipulation 3 in passing ticket gates
must settle their fares.
A passenger who cannot prove where his starting station is will be
charged the highest fare for the route. |
| 15. |
When passengers are evacuated from stations as a result
of emergency situations, irregularity, or train operation suspension,
passengers holding single-journey tickets, concession tickets, or group
tickets may ask for a full fare refund within 7 days at Gondola
stations. For those holding EASYCARDs, ticket gates will automatically
adjust data in the tickets if the passenger uses the card on the Gondola
system within three days. Thereafter, passengers must bring tickets to
the Information Counter in stations to revise ticket data. |

If passengers cannot make up the fare deficiency at the
time, they must present identity certificates, fill out a fare
settlement form, and make the payment within 10 days at a location
specified by TRTC. According to law, TRTC may demand additional payments
from those who fail to meet the deadline. |
| 17. |
If tickets are damaged by station equipment,
ticket-holders may ask for tickets to be changed or for a refund.
However, single-journey tickets damaged at the exit gate will be
retained by TRTC. No refund will be made.
Ticket refunds should be claimed as soon as tickets are damaged by
station equipment. |
| 18. |
Unless due to a cause attributable to TRTC,
single-journey tickets and concession tickets are not refundable after
they are used.
Unused single-journey tickets and concession tickets are refundable on
the date of issue only. |
| 19. |
Passengers shall apply for ticket refunds at the
Information Counter in stations. Refund payment is made after
satisfactory verification on the spot. |
| 20. |
Passengers using EASYCARDs should consult rules
governing EASYCARD issue and usage drawn up by the Taipei Smart Card
Corporation. |
Carry-on Objects
| 21. |
Objects carried by passengers must not obstruct other
passengers, and must be taken care of by owners themselves.
Passengers are not allowed to bring bicycles on board. |
| 22. |
No animals are allowed to enter Gondola premises. This
regulation, however, is not applicable to police dogs; guide dogs;
professionals with guide dog puppies; dogs, cats or birds kept in carry
cages; and fish or shrimps kept in small containers.
Each passenger is allowed carry one piece only, and the size of the carry
cage or container can not exceed 30cm x 30cm x 30cm.
To cope with special situations, TRTC may announce other restrictions for
certain times and areas to further restrict passengers from carrying animals
into the paid area and Gondola cabins. |
| 23. |
Dangerous or inflammable objects must not be brought into
the Gondola premises without authorization.
Dangerous or inflammable objects include inflammable liquids with flash
point below 70 degrees centigrade, explosive, inflammables, and objects that
may cause injury to others. |
| 24. |
When a passenger's carry-on luggage is suspected to contain
hazardous or combustible materials, TRTC may demand a clarification and
perform an inspection. Those refusing inspections shall be deemed to be
carrying hazardous objects and referred to the police. |
Others
| 25. |
Before you take the gondola, please evaluate your physical
condition. Passengers with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, acrophobia
or physical discomfort should not take the gondola. |
| 26. |
Passengers who fall ill en route may request station staff
in stations or cabins to seek medical care on their behalf. |
| 27. |
Passengers with prams, pushchairs, wheelchairs or electrical
wheelchairs, must follow the instructions of station staff.
The aforementioned vehicles shall be kept immobile in the cabins to avoid
dangers caused by swaying. Their size may not exceed 140cm x 70cm x 170cm.
Passengers using electrical wheelchairs shall turn off the motor after
entering the platform. They will be assisted by the station staff. |
| 28. |
TRTC may refuse to transport those who violate the
above-mentioned regulations. If the situation warrants, TRTC may demand that
they leave Gondola premises, or refer them to the police. No refund will be
made on fares for journeys not yet taken. |
